The dragon symbolically represents man's spiritual quest. The pearl of wisdom is shown as hard to attain, within a ball of fire. The snake or serpent, with its body almost completely on the earth, represents man on his physical journey.
A winged creature, in flight in the skies, represents the heavens or man's spiritual journey. Once a serpent is given wings, as in the case of the mythical dragon, it represents man taking flight on the spiritual quest.
The maharishi dragon is infilled with a disruptive pattern, a camouflage pattern which represents nature and art, and further suggests union with creativity and communion with nature as great steps within the greater spiritual journey.
