SS SNA FU: THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL
maharishi draws inspiration from the 17th century mystic, artist, and visionary poet, William Blake. His series of texts “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell” explore themes of duality — a concept deeply embedded in the maharishi ethos. Similarly to Blake, maharishi has always sought to express the balanced interaction of what can often initially seem like opposing forces.
In addition to his artistic and spiritual works, Blake has since his death become increasingly known for his radical politics, which embodied an attitude of rebellion against abuse of class power — views which were later shared by the social revolutionary movement “Situationist Internationale” in the mid to late 20th Century; seen in their use of Blake’s poetry in the graffiti from 70’s London.
