Maharishi introduces Autumn / Winter 2023. Drawing inspiration from the utility and solid construction of industrial workwear over the last 500 years. Employing the pacifist approach to military design ethos, focusing on the uniforms of firefighters and harnessed construction workers from Japan, U.S. and England.
Key cloths include a Pearl Weave Cotton, based on those used in early Japanese fire-fighter kimonos, artworks from ukiyo-e masters Kuniteru and Kuniyoshi serve as decoration for outerwear lining, Italian Cupro Twill shirts and hand-machine embroideries.
Workwear is interpreted by way of technical garments constructed from Japanese Cordura® NYCO® twill and ripstop, rugged yet lightweight the cloth was originally developed for military combat uniforms. The addition of a waterproof fleece from French mill Alpex® and Hi-Vis flight nylon, juxtaposed with eastern-inspired asymmetric closures complete the collection.
