Powerloom Cotton

maharishi’s Loom Jacket and Poncho are woven by powerloom in a striped cotton, drawing inspiration from some of the rarest of all sukajan-style jackets that utilised hand-loom cloths of the Vietnamese Hill Tribes.

These striped cloth sukajan jackets emerged as souvenirs of the USA’s failed invasion of Vietnam in the late 60’s, with a few soldiers engaging with Hill Tribes to provide cloths for them to embroider and take home.

Both garments are hand-embroidered with 60’s Hill Tribe-style tour artworks, with the Loom Jacket also featuring maharishi dragon arm embroidery.

Shout out to Gall & Peters for the map projection.
