Tour Dragon Map
The Tour Dragon artwork celebrates the history of mapmaking and its ability to help us traverse and interpret the world.
The design traces an early 19th-century painting depicting a map of Vietnam as a dragon and serves as a nod to the tour artworks of U.S. soldiers, embroidered onto jackets as a souvenir before returning home. The stylised map was conceived during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang, a rigid Confucian known for his opposition to French involvement in Vietnam.
