Hemp
Maharishi’s perennial use of hemp symbolises its inherent respect for the natural world. Hemp is one of Earth’s most resilient natural fibres. Stronger than cotton, it exhibits strong moisture-wicking and breathability, reducing microbial growth and odour retention.
Hemp cultivation requires minimal agrochemical input and water demand, resulting in a comparatively low environmental footprint. The fibre is biodegradable and retains durability across repeated wear and laundering.

Non organic cotton covers 2.5% of the world’s cultivated land but uses nearly of the world’s pesticides (including herbicides,insecticides, and defoliants), more than any other single major crop. Organic production in cotton farming is utilised to avoid this damaging practice and to promote and enhance biodiversity and biological cycles.
The perennial use of organic cotton aims to raise awareness and contribute to the reduced use of pesticides in the production of clothing materials. Every Maharishi collection utilises sweat and jersey grown without toxic pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.
