EMBROIDERY
Maharishi's embroidery style draws direct inspiration from the iconic Tour Jackets — originally popularised by U.S. advisors stationed in Southeast Asia during the 1960s. Notably, these jackets also gained a cult following among groups of Japanese youth in the decades that followed, becoming emblematic of a unique subcultural style. Often handmade, they became a form of unofficial uniform, blending military aesthetics with personal narrative.
Reflecting that tradition, Maharishi applies the same layout principles — often featuring a ‘top rocker’ wordmark above a central graphic and completed with dates or a lower rocker — to Original Snopants®, sweats, tees and jackets. These motifs echo the structure of the vintage Tour Jackets while integrating contemporary themes and Eastern-influenced artworks.
This approach honours the cross-cultural history of the Sukajan (Scajan), the so-called "souvenir jackets" and ties into Maharishi’s longstanding focus on pacifist military design — reinterpreting symbols of conflict into statements of peace and art.
