Upcycling
Upcycling military surplus is a permanent feature at Maharishi, often heavily recut and altered to make what were initially unwearable items in a civilian context into ready-to-wear garments and reclaim them as symbols of peace rather than war.
During the production process clothing is smudged with herbal incense, blessed, and washed in saffron water to symbolically cleanse it of its military associations.
For SS24; Maharishi repurposes the canopies of military parachutes to construct a series of original silhouettes such as the Monk Snoparka, Original Snopants®, Kimono, and accessories.
