Maharishi taps longstanding collaborator and artist Brendan “Kay One” Backmann for a guest capsule to celebrate the Lunar Year of the Dragon.
Part of Paris’ first wave of graffiti artists. In 1985; at the age of 15, he began to paint in the streets of France’s capital, collaborating regularly with other artists such as Mode 2, Bando and the infamous NTM crew.
Leaving for London in ‘93, he went on to work for designers such as Judy Blame and Hardy Blechman, whilst continuing to write in the streets and DJ in clubs throughout London.
Upon his return to Paris in 2001, his practice turned to the abstraction of graffiti as a tool for designing objects and sculpture. His style is best recognised through the abstraction of colours and distortion of letters on murals and graphic applications.
