DPM IDENTIFIER SERIES 1 KUBRICK BY MEDICOM TOY JAPAN

Heading

To widen the promotion of camouflage in a non-violent context with the ambition of continuing the shift in its perceived symbolic value, several DPM related products have been produced by Maharishi. The DPM identifier series 1 has been applied to 6cm Kubrick figures, a collaboration with the Japanese toy company Medicom.Released in 2003, the six figures that make up the first series of this range are each printed with a specific camouflage pattern used previously by Maharishi for its clothing lines, these patterns include ‘Bonsai Forest’, ‘Bonsai Step’ and ‘mhi Sikh’, and serve to promote the aesthetic beauty of camouflage. Unlike many camouflage toys, the figures are not equipped with weapons. In addition, the figures are designed to stand on their heads, a favourite posture of Hardy Blechman, Maharishi’s creative director, and one that provided a metaphor for viewing things form different angle.
