maharishi look to the Far East with a range of tees inspired by vintage Japanese shunga illustrations and woodblock printed artworks.
'Shunga', the traditional Japanese term for erotic artwork, was created between the years 1600 - 1900 and celebrated sexual pleasure in all forms. Despite being banned in Japan for much of the 20th Century, it has continued to influence modern forms of art, such as manga and anime.
The maharishi staple branding MILTYPE is reworked for SS18 in the style of traditional Japanese military garment insignia - utilising Katakana symbols. These Japanese MILTYPE t-shirts are exclusive to maharishi store.
