Maharishi and Fracap introduce the Bonsai Mountaineer, a restrained interpretation of Fracap’s M127 silhouette. Handmade in Italy, the style is built from Italian suede, paired with a vegetable-dyed leather ankle cuff and fully natural calf-leather lining. Ankle padding offers measured support, and the suede carries laser-etched DPM: Bonsai Forest rendered with quiet precision.
Founded in 1908, Fracap has sustained a reputation for disciplined Italian craftsmanship, producing footwear for mountaineers and military units with an emphasis on reliability and material integrity. This commitment to natural processes and longevity aligns closely with Maharishi’s design ethos, making the collaboration a thoughtful and coherent meeting of worlds.
The Bonsai Mountaineer is completed with a Vibram commando sole, gunmetal eyelets, and two sets of laces—black and brown—reflecting a focus on utility and understated engineering.

Maharishi was founded by Hardy Blechman in 1994 with the vision to create environmentally conscious, durable, utilitarian clothing. Maharishi collections have always included hemp, organic cottons and upcycled military clothing, reflecting a respect for nature whilst utilising the latest technology. Collections explore the dualistic nature of the universe, often expressed through blending Eastern and Western artworks and silhouettes, combining hi-vis or reflective with camouflage patterns and taking a pacifist approach to military-grade design.
Maharishi’s use of camouflage aims to detach disruptive patterns from their military associations, reclaiming the symbolic value away from war and promoting their true roots in nature, and development by artists.
