Roy on Nature
If peace is the oldest pattern in nature...
PJ Smith is a storyteller.
Often told through his character, Roy, PJ Smith transforms life's chaos into Roy’s tales of reflection.
Wearing the Maharishi Hemp Tracksuit from the latest collection, Year of The Praying Mantis, Roy tells the story of Maharishi's core ethos - functional, sustainable, military design with a conscious, pacifist spirit.
Hemp Ripstop Track Jacket & Snopants®
Maharishi reworks the language of military clothing through a pacifist lens with a funnel-neck Track Jacket and loose-fit Original Snopants®, constructed from a durable yet breathable blend of hemp and organic cotton.
The fabric itself embodies this duality. Hemp offers a lower-impact natural fibre known for its strength and longevity, while the ripstop weave, originally developed for military applications, reinforces the cloth against tearing. Together, they transform a material associated with combat into a lightweight, considered uniform for everyday life. In white, the tracksuit draws an additional reference from traditional meditation garments. The colour shifts its military-derived construction towards stillness and contemplation, creating a symbolic balance between utility, comfort and mindfulness.
Both garments are finished with precision hardware by Riri, the long-established Swiss manufacturer of military-grade metal zips and components. Riri zips run throughout the tracksuit, while Maharishi’s patented Snocord® system uses an exclusively produced metal Temple Ball to provide clean, adjustable fits without exposed excess cord. The Track Jacket also features internal Maha Carry Straps, designed to allow the jacket to be carried hands-free when removed.
Maharishi’s signature Original Snopants® reinterpret U.S. Army snow-camouflage over-trousers through a lens of peace and modern utility. Zip-off legs convert the loose-fit trousers into shorts, while the Snocord® system allows the waist, hem and length to be adjusted to the wearer.
Designed to be worn separately or paired as a complete tracksuit, each piece reflects Maharishi’s pacifist military ethos: respecting the function and ingenuity of battle dress while removing it from the context of conflict.
